UT Research Reveals Potential for 50-fold Increase in Catalyst Mass Activity

A UT research team is partnering with the Department of Energy (DOE) to lower costs associated with converting widespread green energy. Leading the team, MABE professor Feng-Yuan Zhang and his constituents are working with proton exchange membrane electrolyzer cells (PEMECs), which could be the key to creating an affordable supply of renewable hydrogen.

The goal of their research is to move away from traditional electrolysis technology and focus on using PEMECs which have a higher response rate in producing and storing hydrogen.
